Dear future daughter,
I'm sorry for all the times I won't understand you,
I'm sorry for when I won't understand your NEED to buy that dress.
I'm sorry for when I won't understand why you should to go to that party.
I'm sorry for all the times you will cry because of my words.
I'm sorry for when I won't allow you to wear 'that' outfit to 'that' place.
I'm sorry for when I won't understand your obsession with a pop star.
I'm sorry for when I'll scold you for turning up that noisy new song too loud.
I'm sorry for when I'll get angry because of My stress.
I'm sorry for the times you'll have to see me and your father fight.
I'm sorry for all the pointless questions I'll ask about your outing.
I'm sorry for embarrassing you in front of your friends.
I'm sorry for trying to be just a friend to you as your best friend is.
I'm sorry for trying to come too close.
I'm sorry for taking petty issues too far,
but what I'm NOT SORRY for is caring.
but what I'm NOT SORRY for is caring.
I'm NOT sorry that I'm protective of you,
I'm NOT sorry that I'm scared of this wicked world.
I'm NOT sorry that I'm scared for you, and I'm NOT sorry that I can't always be the way you expect me to be.
I'm NOT sorry for the generation gap, but I'll always respect it.
I'm ONLY sorry that I want you to learn independence and yet exercise some control over you, only because you'll always be my little girl.
I'll wait for you to step into my shoes and understand what I'm going through.
I'm NOT sorry for having to be your mother.
I'm sorry that I can't be a friend all the time.
I'M ONLY SORRY FOR ALL THE THINGS MY LOVE FORCES ME TO DO.
Things that I never want to do, but my heart compels me to. Things that make me toss and turn every sleepless night, trying to make me accept them, but all I do is fear them more.
Things that I never want to do, but my heart compels me to. Things that make me toss and turn every sleepless night, trying to make me accept them, but all I do is fear them more.
Our gap will always remain, as will my care and concern. I'm sorry if you don't understand this on all those days when I say NO to you, but I'm sure you'll do, one day.
Because when I was just like you, I fathomed the dilemma MY mother went through when she had to say NO for something I wanted.
Where how much ever she tried to agree with me, somewhere or the other, she lost, and her heart won. Her care won and love for me conquered her entirely.
And some day I'll be in a similar position.
So yes dear,
you'll always find my love in EVERY decision I take for you, no matter what it is. And it would never harm you, I hope it'll always be right for you at that point in time.
My decisions might change with age, and scoldings might soften, but my love and concern will remain the same and my fear & care might still win over some of your requests. And I'll be sorry, yet again...
I will always love you and I would hope that every mother in the world gets to feel the joy of having a daughter; a daughter like you. :')
Awaiting you,
