Freedom of speech

Many freedoms were offered along with the formation of the constitution, but gradually walls were created by morals, ethics and people with different view points! When it comes to life, we choose. Don't like meat? Be a vegetarian. Want to take it further? Be vegan! Don't like pizza? Don't eat it. Right? That is what it's like with online content as well; if you don't like it then don't read/watch it. The world doesn't work according to one community or person's personal morals. Healthy coexistence incorporates tolerance, in all forms. Peace, is what's required!
The Information Technology Act, section 66A said that, content, which was found 'grossly offensive', is to be banned, and the person sharing such content, to be jailed. But who is qualified enough to take a just call on what is 'grossly offensive' and what isn't? What is to one, isn't to another. As they say, there is no common truth, there's your truth and my truth but no universal truth! It has been a sigh of relief for all the citizens of India that the IT Act has been scrapped! We won't have to worry about our Facebook or YouTube comments anymore, and for bloggers and comedians, it's far beyond relief! Enjoy this freedom before a group of 'offended' mindless freaks give birth to another illogical constitutional act! :P

French, Greek, English connection!

"French is a language that turns dirt into romance!"
There are words we use in everyday oration, taken from other languages, that we're unaware of! We read them is newspapers occasionally too. Some you didn't even know were foreign..

Here are some French words that are simply beautiful!
  1. Cliché- used to stereotype or categorize things
  2. Couture- means fashion, 'Haute couture' means high fashion!
  3. Noir- stands for the color Black
  4. Silhouette- silhouette
  5. Excellence- excellence
  6. Bonbon- sweets/candies
  7. Magnifique- wonderful, magnificent
  8. Soirée- evening, evening party
  9. Mélange- mixture, assortment
  10. Chouchou/Amour- darling/love
And some Greek words :D
  1. Acme- peak/ highest point of structure
  2. Anemia- disease involving RBCs
  3. Ethos- mentality, mindset
  4. Dogma- religious principles
  5. Plethora- abundance
  6. Genesis- onset/to give birth
  7. Phobia- exaggerated fear
  8. Kudos- glory
  9. Eureka-  to celebrate discovery/new idea
  10. Acropolis- extreme city.
Languages are extremely fun to learn, even English etymology of normal words have stories behind them that are far more interesting than literature itself!

Mental Clogs

In life, there are days when men and women of all age groups feel something coming in their way and abstaining them from being able to do the simplest of every day jobs. Those causes, are what I call mental clogs. Some events can be very disturbing and cause your thinking/doing power to shut down! It's common for women to feel so more often than men do.

Causes:

  • Stress (work or home related)
  • Misunderstandings with loved ones
  • Trait loneliness
  • Failures
  • Death or partings
  • Unnecessary small everyday quarrels
  • Truths being revealed late etc.
Such situations makes one lose control, but it is better to take steps against it,because time is precious.

How to deal with it:
  • Accept failures
  • Talk it out
  • Remind yourself of tasks that need attention
  • Set priorities
  • Think it out, but stop after a while.
  • Never over think
  • Make a plan to de-stress
  • Calm yourself down first before thinking of ways to settle arguments
  • Go on a private vacation, it isn't always necessary to fight stress if you cannot.
  • Join a hobby class
  • Try best to forget the stressful reason for a while.
We all face this, hence we must to help each other emerge out of it as a part of one community, rather than judge on the basis of the root cause of a mental clog. As long as a clog is present, it needs to be removed, rest can be kept for later, as the best decisions are made with a clear and relaxed psyche.

Vices? In all true sense.

The best thing you can do to hurt someone is to feed your vices. Vices not only hurt related people but influences every other person who comes across you. Some take pride in sharing the same vices and get motivated, while some just begin to hate your habits as well as you.
In my opinion, the worst mentalities you could ever inculcate in yourself are the 'Taking people for granted' and 'Being dishonest is okay' attitude. These are the ones that tend to scar a relationship the most.
Taking people, or rather even your time, for granted, is extremely harmful for any kind of growth. If you take people for granted, they are going to get tired of not being valued enough and they will walk away. If you take your time for granted, opportunities are going to walk away. People and time, come into your life only once, it's up to you what you do with them, but what goes around does come back around. Don't throw away diamonds while collecting stones. If people take you for granted, it is because you adjust for them, you love them and let them rule over your life, you know it isn't right but you let it happen anyway. Don't do that, be brave, stand up! If you have the heart to sacrifice, you do have the courage to support yourself.
Dishonesty, even to make someone happy, isn't a right alternative at all... You should be afraid, of the friends that flatter you in person, but think otherwise in real. An honest enemy is better than a fake friend. I do think that lying can be done with words and ALSO with silence! Honesty, no matter how bad it is, it must be told. It's like a needle piercing through you, causing temporary sharp pain, but after it is in, you don't feel it.
God sends people in your life with a purpose, take good from them and build yourself. Value each and every person for all the good they've got. Be grateful for the little sacrifices people made for you, those things could be all that they ever had. People were created to be loved, things were created to be used. DO NOT mix them up! People who give are richer, remember that <3 Learn, keep your eyes open, every second, every event, every person has something great to offer! :D

My Top 5 Inspirations!

I bet you all didn’t know some of these people, neither did I, until 2 years back a teacher of mine introduced me to a few of these great men and women! Some still alive and spreading their magic! I just want to show all of you the infinite capabilities that we possess. Despite all of our body and mind being ridiculously decent and talented, we hold ourselves back. But here are some people who didn’t, in spite of being shown down at first. We too must heighten our will power by looking up to these wonderful beings!

Gautami’s Top 5 inspirational people, HERE WE GO:

1.       Nick Vujicic: Born on 4th December, 1982 with Tetra-Amelia Syndrome, a medical condition where you lack all four limbs and develop malformations in the reproductive organs, skull etc. Yet, Nick never learnt to stop. Of course he was bullied and underestimated by everybody around him, but during his teens, he learnt a few lessons that changed his life. At the age of 17, he started his own non-profit organisation called Life Without Limbs. He is one of the greatest motivational speakers you’d come across. He focuses more on teenage issues, but also gives speeches at congregations and to corporate audiences.  He’s an Australian Christian evangelist, public speaker, author and has also acted in short films and won awards for it. His organisation’s link is: http://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org/ and one his greatest speeches is this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJvEoLPLIg8 watch the entire think, trust me, you’ll bless his soul all your life for this metamorphosing speech of his. And he’s still alive and happily married! ^__^

2.       Kim Peek:  November 1951-Decemeber 2009, lived the smartest savant on Earth, he was gradually termed as the ‘Megasavant’ i.e a person with unusual mental abilities and learning power. He would read something once and remember it throughout his life time! He was born with macrocephaly (abnormally large head), and an encephalocelea blister into which the back of this brain was protruded. At the age of 3, the blister retracted and pulled a nodule into his cerebellum and destroyed most of it. An X-Ray showed that he had one solid brain hemisphere. The doctors had lost hope but his father never believed so and introduced Kim to books. It is said that he could read 2 books at once and still remember everything. He indeed was blessed rather than deprived!  Watch the movie titled ‘The Rain Man’ to know a little about him. (The movie is a slightly improvised version of Kim’s real life)

3.       Mark Inglis: Age 55 and still living, he is just another mountaineer, with a twist which he does not take as a challenge at all. He rather believes he received a blessing in disguise. Mark left for a normal day at work as a search and rescue mountaineer at New Zealand’s Mt. Cook when a blizzard struck and relegated him into an ice cave for 13 days. He was rescued but had to get both his legs amputated due to severe frost bite. Do you think it stopped him? Never. He still scales mountains and in May 2006, he became the first ever double amputee to have scaled Mt. Everest. While doing so, a fixed line-anchor failed and Mark fell and broke one of his prosthetic legs, he still didn’t quit, he fixed them with duct tape and ordered one to be brought up from the base camp, and he continued successfully!  He is a motivational speaker too. Discovery Channel shot his Everest hike titled “Everest: Beyond the Limit”, and here is one of his speeches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7yT1S3JTO8 do watch :D

4.       Stephen Hawking: Someone we are all acquainted with, is yet another example of incredible will power and determination! He suffers from Lou Gehrig’s disease, or ALS, which is a motor neuron disease due to which he cannot move any of his body parts. Stephen was so determined that he outlived his life expectancy.  He continued to think, dream and achieve despite of the limitations and had a speech generating device made for him to read his mind (not literally). He gave his theories, completed education, married twice and has 3 kids. Watch the movie “The Theory of Everything” to know about his life and his first marriage. Or you could read his book titled ‘A Brief History of Time’!

5.        Wilma Rudolph: At the age of 4, in Tennessee, Wilma was diagnosed with polio, followed by scarlet fever, whooping cough, chicken pox AND double pneumonia, one after the other quite quickly! She was born in a poor family with 22 siblings, Wilma being the 20th, she sometimes had to wear dresses made up of rough flour sacks due to the poverty! She had to wear a brace on her left leg after she recovered, which resulted in her leg to twist, which was cured later on, by doctors. She had learnt to dream big since childhood. The doctors had said that she would never walk again but her mother rubbished the statements and gave rise to the Fastest Woman In the World during the 1960s. She won the bronze for 4x100m relay in the 1956 Olympics at age 16 and at the 1960 Olympics she won golds in 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. She worked against racism and for disabled children and took up a variety of hosting jobs later.

We too have enormous talent residing inside us, waiting to be recognized, but why wait? Today’s time doesn’t wait for anyone and neither will we! This was purely for all of you to feel blessed that we do not have any disabilities limiting us, but, we still underestimate ourselves. It is time to recognize your worth and work hard each day, like it’s your last. Make your stay on this planet worthwhile, the least you can do is spread some joy and be honest! :’D Best of Luck!

18th March 2015 :D New blog, new beginnings. Introduction

Hello readers and fellow lovers of life, I'm Gautami Kawale, a teenager, just a little above average. Feisty and irate, yet emotional and sympathetic, I'm an extraordinary yet simple college student. I'm simultaneously the meanest and sweetest person you'll come across, and I aspire to share my point of view about people and life incidents with all through this platform.
I am a 12th grader at present (17 yrs old), who has a passion for writing, philosophy, music, singing and debating and I like being the best, nothing lesser. I play the keyboard, MUNs and love non-fiction.
As requested by a lot of people, here is my blog, to teach new things, introduce new concepts, new people and create a silent mental revolution. I hope most of my posts motivate you in some way or the other. I never smiled a lot earlier and have thus realized the value of happiness, so I'm here to spread just that!
Hopefully this is a fun filled journey, with loads of motivation, knowledge and encouragement. I'd appreciate comments, feedback and suggestions as to what my next post should be about, I'm totally open to both constructive and destructive criticism ;)
Here is a piece of nature to start with. This refreshing picture will enlighten your senses! This picture was clicked by my father on a highway en route Panchgani. This simple yet intricate artwork by God is the best example of beauty in mediocre settings. This beauty would've gone unnoticed in all the hay and dirt but was spotted luckily. That's what is with us humans too,we are all diamonds that need polishing and recognition.

For every manifest thought, feeling or motive that appears in the conscious mind, there is a corresponding latent thought, feeling or motive that we have locked away. We really don't know ourselves at all. All we know are lies we tell ourselves, to keep ourselves from going MAD.
-Anon
So come hold my hand, let us all embark on a journey together, into discovering deeper truths about ourselves and the world around us, let's push further, become crazier, yet be unique. Stepping into a world where we are true to ourselves and do justice to our capabilities. Let's rise, rise as high as we can, because the sky is not the limit, not in our philosophies!
Leave comments and feedback below! Like and share if you like this :D and smile on! :) <3
